I named this flower in honor of the Meredith tradition of Christmas caroling to faculty members. Our class experienced this tradition only once, during our freshman year. After that year, with exams before Christmas, the tradition was dropped, but I still remember how meaningful it was. And the upper classmen taught us a carol I'd never heard before, which became one of my favorites "On this day, earth shall ring..."
